Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Welcome to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Upon arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, your family will be warmly greeted by our guide and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, enjoy some free time to relax and recover from your journey.

Terelj National Park – Chinggis Khaan Statue, Turtle Rock & Aryabal Temple

After breakfast, we will drive to Terelj National Park, one of Mongolia’s most beautiful natural destinations. We will first visit the impressive Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex, where you can admire the enormous equestrian statue and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We will then explore Turtle Rock, a fascinating natural rock formation, before taking a gentle hike to the peaceful Aryabal Meditation Temple, nestled among the forested mountains. Enjoy a relaxed day surrounded by beautiful scenery and plenty of opportunities for family photographs.

Flight to Dalanzadgad & Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs

After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport for our flight to Dalanzadgad, the capital of South Gobi Province. Upon arrival, we will visit the Gobi Museum of Nature and History, where the family can learn about the region’s wildlife, geology, and fascinating dinosaur discoveries. We will then continue to Bayanzag, famously known as the Flaming Cliffs. Explore the spectacular red sandstone formations and learn about the dinosaur fossils discovered here, including the famous dinosaur eggs.

Khongor Sand Dunes & Camel Riding

Today, we will explore one of the Gobi Desert’s most spectacular landscapes — the Khongor Sand Dunes. Upon arrival, the family will have the opportunity to enjoy a memorable camel-riding experience through the golden desert landscape. Children and adults alike can experience riding these remarkable animals and learn about the traditional lifestyle of Gobi camel-herding families. Later, we will explore the dunes on foot and enjoy the breathtaking views across the vast sea of sand.

Yol Valley – Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park

After breakfast, we will travel to Yol Valley, one of the most beautiful natural areas of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and rugged mountains, the valley offers a surprising contrast to the surrounding desert. Enjoy a scenic walk through the valley, admire the unique landscapes, and look for local wildlife and birds of prey. This peaceful nature experience provides an excellent opportunity for the whole family to enjoy Mongolia’s unique Gobi environment.

Dalanzadgad & Flight to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, we will drive back to Dalanzadgad and have lunch at a local restaurant.

Depending on the flight schedule, there will be some free time to relax or explore the city before our flight back to Ulaanbaatar.

Upon arrival in the capital, we will be transferred to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

Ulaanbaatar City Tour

Today, we will discover the cultural and historical highlights of Ulaanbaatar.

We will visit Sukhbaatar Square, the central landmark of the capital, followed by Gandan Monastery, Mongolia’s largest Buddhist monastery. We will then visit the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, where the family can discover Mongolia’s rich history and learn more about the Mongol Empire and the legacy of Chinggis Khaan.

Mongol Nomadic Camp Experience

Today, we will visit a Mongol Nomadic camp to experience traditional Mongolian family life and nomadic culture. The family can meet local people, see livestock, participate in traditional activities, and learn about the daily life of Mongolian nomads. Children will have the opportunity to see how Mongolian families live and work closely with their animals. After the experience, we will return to Ulaanbaatar and enjoy a relaxing evening.

What kind of accommodation for this trip?

You will stay in a good 4-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar. An upgrade is possible on request!

During the excursion in the countryside, you will stay in a Tourist Ger camp, which is a kind of hotel that serves customers with a ger (yurt) instead of a hotel room and is always located at the best viewing spot. It is the most popular accommodation type for a countryside trip in Mongolia and consists of 30–40 yurts, a restaurant and facilities. Most visitors are happy to stay in a ger, which provides an authentic taste of Mongolian culture and adventure, their most enjoyable experience in Mongolia.

What about the meals?

During your trip in Mongolia, you will be served mainly European dishes and sometimes authentic Mongolian foods. Lunch and dinner consist of 3–4 courses (soup and/or salad, main course, dessert) and bottled water.

If you require special meals due to religious or medical limitations, or vegetarian food, please inform us so that arrangements can be made in advance.

What about the transport and road conditions for this trip?

Car: A good car is an important part of your comfortable trip in Mongolia. There will be a good 4×4 car for this trip based on the number of people in your group.

Road: The asphalted roads are 40% and the unpaved roads are 60%.

During the trip, it takes approximately 2–6 hours of driving (80–280 km) from one destination to the next, depending on road and weather conditions on each driving day. This is not a nonstop drive! We can take frequent short stops along the road for photographs, toilets, stretching and meeting local nomads.

The best time to do this journey?

1st best months: June, July and August.

2nd best months: May and September.

Personal things you should bring with you

Hiking boots and sandals, waterproof jacket, raincoat, umbrella, sunglasses, hat, comfortable shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen and prescription medication (if required).

Gear: Camera, binoculars, flashlight and travel lamp. Some Tourist camps do not have 24-hour electricity. It is therefore recommended to bring your own travel lamp!
